“Untitled” by Taisha Fermin

I met you last spring
By the sea shore,
For once, my mind did not hurt anymore
My mom at peace, the water calm
I laughed at the barnacles held in your palm
That you covered
With your hand,
You the ocean waved back again
And now I wait, to return once more
So that I’ll see you again, this coming spring
