It’s been a lot to process. It’s not the outcome we hoped for but we’re not letting that crush our hope for the future, because that hope comes from us — you, this team, the work we’re doing together, the shared values that won’t change with who’s in office.
We know what’s coming and we know what’s at stake. We know we live in and work to protect a very special place that many wish to exploit. We know they’ll try to repeal the Roadless Rule again (and we’re ready and already part of an active lawsuit to protect it). They’ll try and try again and we’ll try harder. It’s what we do, and it’s possible thanks to your support.
We were founded in 1970 by a group of folks who knew that what’s right isn’t always popular. Since then, we’ve made progress — we’ve changed policies, regulations, and even minds. It’s rarely easy, but it’s never impossible and it’s always worth it.
This feels like a big step backwards but we’ll keep pushing forward and we hope you’ll push with us in whatever capacity you can.
Maybe it’s committing to take action, signing onto petitions or submitting comments, calling or writing to decision makers, showing up for rallies and making sure we’re seen and heard. We’ll share these opportunities via email, social media and our website.
Maybe that’s becoming a member by donating at least $35 annually, supporting our work and strengthening our collective voice. Maybe it’s increasing your gift amount or signing up for recurring donations.
We’re still in this together, interconnected and interdependent like the lands, waters, lives and livelihoods we seek to protect.
With gratitude and hope,
Maggie Rabb
