I’m excited to announce that SEACC will be co-sponsoring the Prince of Wales Island Unit 2 Deer Summit from October 13 to 15 in Craig — and you’re invited!
The Deer Summit aims to bring together scientists, land and wildlife managers, hunters, and community members to share information and discuss factors that truly influence the deer population on the island.
We’ll have a community dinner, some special presentations, and discussions on predation, habitat, regulation, and socio-cultural impacts of deer on POW, as well as a field trip to Harris River Trail to talk about habitat succession post-logging.
Join us at Craig Tribal Hall (1330 Craig-Klawock Highway):
- from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, followed by a community dinner,
- from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. on Friday, October 14,
- and from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 15.
The Deer Summit is completely free and no registration is required. I hope to see you there!
