The State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Forestry announced its Five Year Schedule of Timber Sales (FYSTS) for 2023 to 2027 for the Southeast area on Friday, Jan. 27. More old-growth timber sales are planned around the region, including the El Capitan and Whale Pass sales, which we fought and will continue to fight as long as we have options to do so.
The public has until Tuesday, Feb. 28, to provide comments on the proposed schedule. Getting on the record with comments is the best way to ensure that the State of Alaska hears from multiple perspectives as the Division of Forestry continues its plans to log old-growth forest in Southeast Alaska.
We are here to help you with tips for creating the most effective comments. We can also assist with submitting a comment. Just let us know if you need help or have questions about the FYSTS. But if you’re ready to roll, the easiest way to comment is to email dnr.dof.sse@alaska.gov.
