Thank you for asking the Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for an extension of the comment period on the Palmer Project exploration permit amendment! Thanks to your pressure, the deadline was extended to June 3.
As a reminder, DNR has received a request from the Palmer Project for roading and drilling near the Klehini River and Glacier Creek. This project includes over 50 drill pads with bulldozed access roads. Make sure to submit your public comment to the DNR!
Our friends at Lynn Canal Conservation (LCC) recently put out an action alert that has some great information about timeline (the exploration is planned for as early as this June!), the plan (overburden drilling; logging old-growth forest to make roads), the location (adjacent to the Klehini River!), and some talking points that you can include in your public comment.
