Board update: Seeking SEACC’s next leader

SEACC’s long-serving Executive Director, Meredith Trainor, will be moving on from SEACC in the new year, and the Board is about to embark on a hiring process to identify a successor.

As Co-Chairs of the Board of the Southeast Alaska Conservation Council, and on behalf of the entire board and staff, we wanted to take this opportunity to extend a warm gunalchéesh, háw’aa, and T’oyaxsut nüün — thank you — to Meredith for everything she has done to support SEACC and our staff and board as the organization has grown, expanded, and become more professional and high-performing over the last seven years under her leadership. No other ED has been in the role for as long a stretch as she has, and we are grateful for the organizational growth and important conservation wins that her steady hand and vision have provided.

With the announcement of Meredith’s transition we embark on a new phase for SEACC, and we hope to enlist your help! The Southeast Alaska Conservation Council will soon be looking for a dynamic, strategic new Executive Director who can lead the organization into the future. We’ll be looking for an experienced leader, fundraiser, and communicator with a commitment to conservation and/or Southeast Alaska, who can build new relationships with diverse stakeholders. The hiring process will open shortly, with a rolling review of applications received thereafter — so tell your friends, colleagues, family members, and the local community leaders you love or admire to get their applications in soon.

SEACC is hiring for another great role in the organization at the same time — a new Federal Campaigns Manager, who will work on federal issues, including Tongass National Forest Management. Look for that position description to be posted on our website soon, as well!

We’re so grateful for Meredith’s leadership over the last seven years and are honored to have the opportunity to soon begin to recruit and hire SEACC’s next Executive Director. We look forward to celebrating Meredith’s long tenure at SEACC with you in the months ahead, and to introducing an exciting new director who will lead the organization beginning in 2024.

Sincerely,

SEACC Board Co-Chairs:

Co-Chair Natalie Watson

Co-Chair Judy Ramos

Co-Chair Michelle Meyer
