“A Canticle to Water” by Bonnie Demerjian

Rainfall, rivulets, rivers, and sea,
in gentle patter and fierce autumn storm
You nourish, cleanse, and restore us so
we’ll praise you and honor and love you.

Muskeg, tide flat, and alpine lake,
bathic depth, leviathan’s playground,
highway for salmon, sea lions, and seal,
we praise you, we honor and love you.

Pristine home for the food that sustains us,
haven for wildlife that brightens our days,
we fear for your future and ours, so entwined,
so we’ll fight for our lives as we
praise and we honor and love you.
