No changes to Whale Pass Timber Sale Plan!

The final Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) for the Whale Pass Timber Sale was released yesterday without consideration of the community and those living directly below the sale who will be affected.

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Forestry, has made no significant changes based on the overwhelming opposition to this timber sale.

Anyone who already commented on this timber sale and is impacted may submit a Request for Reconsideration to the DNR by April 25, but it must be accompanied by a $200 fee. This step would be most useful for the Friends of Whale Pass and others directly impacted.

How can you help otherwise? Please WRITE YOUR LEGISLATORS.

Share the public notice, share the details, share media stories, and share the fact that even schoolchildren begging to save their home aren’t heard by the State of Alaska DNR.
