His latest book\, “Raven’s Witness: The Alaska Life of Richard K. Nelson” recently won the 2020 Banff Mountain Book Award Winner – Grand Prize for its exploration of naturalist Richard K. Nelson’s life. Called Nels by his friends\, Richard’s life was a unique cultural bridge between Indigenous cultures and western culture as well as a persistent\, courageous labor for the health of the wild flora and fauna of Southeast Alaska. \nRussell Heath\, a previous SEACC Executive Director\, seasoned activist\, world traveler\, and novelist recently released his second novel: “Rinn’s Crossing.” A pulse-pounding political thriller set in Southeast Alaska\, this novel holds a unique place in the world as a fictitious exploration of the incredibly real political machinations around timber\, the Tongass\, and the lives of the people who live here. \nBoth books will be available for sale!
