Roadless Rule FEIS Webinar
The Tongass National Forest is under threat because the State of Alaska seeks to exempt the Tongass from the National Roadless Rule. The Forest Service and Secretary Sonny Perdue recently released the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Alaska Roadless Rule. The FEIS recommends removing Roadless Rule protections from 9.3 million acres of the Tongass National Forest.
Despite support for keeping National Roadless Rule protections on the Tongass from 96% of public comments, the FEIS indicated the recommended alternative as the full exemption (Alternative 6). This could lead to new logging roads and more old-growth clearcut logging on the Tongass.
The webinar will be a deep dive into the Alaska Roadless Rule FEIS and the recommended alternative, and discuss how you can take action moving forward. There will also be time for questions.
