- The Sealaska Lands Bill would give 30 world-class hunting, fishing, and tourism destinations now in the public domain to the Sealaska Corporation. Eight of the 30 places that could be lost are described in a Southeast Alaska Conservation Council report, out today.

- The draft plan--which is available for public comments through March 19th--recommends that Southeast should significantly increase demand side management and energy efficiency programs (and save the region about $137 million in 50 years), among other recommendations.
- Alaska Coastal Management Ballot Initiative Hits the Streets
- SEACC is supporting a citizen's initiative to restore Alaska's coastal management program, which expired this spring after several decades of successful operation. The program helps coordinate federal, state, and local permitting processes, and give local governments a voice in these decisions, helping address problems early and reduce the need for lawsuits.
