Southeast Alaska and the Tongass National Forest have a diverse abundance of clean, renewable energy resources.

Southeast Alaska has the chance to do renewable energy right--from the start.

There are sources you've heard of like hydropower, tidal, geothermal and wind resources throughout the region.  And some you may not have, like making biodiesel from fish scraps produced by our world-class wild salmon fisheries or efficient wood stove pellets from sawdust left over from the region's value-added wood products industry.

SEACC is committed to utilizing these resources to get local communities off diesel and onto cheaper, cleaner, local sources of energy--not just for electricity and heat, but for transportation and emerging research and development industries.

The challenge is to do this in a way that preserves the integrity of the  fish, wildlife and wild lands these communities, our nation and the world depend on.  This is no easy task, but there is no place where it is more necessary.
