By entering essays and photos into the competition:

• the photographer/writer avows that he or she is the sole owner of the copyright of said photographs/essays and possesses the relevant model and property releases where applicable (photos)
• the photographer/writer indemnifies Southeast Alaska Conservation Council (SEACC) from all claims arising from the publication of said photographs/essays. It is the legal responsibility of the photographer/writer, not SEACC, to ensure that his or her essays and photos comply with copyright and other laws.
  
• Copyright remains with the photographer/writer at all times. By entering essays and photos into the competition, the photographer/writer grants SEACC nonexclusive worldwide rights. 
  
• The photographer/writer also agrees that, if selected, the printed essay and photo may be displayed in one or more locations and in all media (i.e. community exhibitions, SEACC photo database, image library, website etc), without the further consent or compensation of the photographer/writer.  
  
• SEACC agrees that submitted essays and photos are for the exclusive use of SEACC and may not be used by any other party without the express consent of the photographer/writer.
